California Buried in Snow
Parts of California buried by snow in recent weeks now face a flood threat from a Pacific storm tapping into an atmospheric river. Before that storm arrives, a first system will dump snow through Wednesday. Snow will fall in the Siskiyous and Sierra of Northern California, including over elevations as low as 1,000 feet, according to the National Weather Service.
Red Tide Hits Some Florida Beaches
Red tide is hitting some Florida Gulf Coast beaches, just in time for spring break. Testing over the past eight days found high levels of the red tide algae Karenia brevis in water samples from about a dozen locations, stretching from Clearwater in the Tampa Bay area south to Naples, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Great Lakes Incoming Snowstorm
A new snowstorm tracking across the country this week will pile on to what's already been one of the snowiest winters on record in parts of the Northern Plains and upper Midwest before spreading its way across the Great Lakes and Northeast.
